Conductor

A charismatic conductor.

On May 2, 2026, Reed graduated with a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. As a graduate assistant for the BSU Department of Bands, Reed frequently led the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony in a wide variety of wind band repertoire. He also served as the teacher of record for the Ball State Campus Band, a non-auditioned community ensemble of more than 100 students from all seven of Ball State's institutional Colleges, and helped resurrect the Ball State Brass Ensemble under the musical direction of Dr. Stephen Campbell. In these roles, Reed frequently collaborated with other musical departments, guest artists, and student composers to provide many multifaceted, high-quality performance experiences to students regardless of medium, ability level, or academic major.

Reed has served as a guest conductor for the Indiana Wind Symphony, the Southeastern Indiana Honor Band, the Decatur County Music Festival, and for various ad hoc community ensembles.

During his studies at Indiana University, Reed excelled in three conducting courses with Profs. Jason Nam and Eric Smedley, culminating with the opportunity to conduct the Jacobs School of Music Symphonic Band in rehearsal. Outside of class, Reed has conducted a variety of chamber ensembles and for clinics with Dr. Rodney Dorsey, Maestro Leonard Slatkin, Dr. Chris Albanese, and Maestro Francisco Lecce-Chong.

While attending Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA, Reed served as the student director for the auditioned Chamber Choir and as a drum major for the Marching Blue Devil Band for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons. He participated in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra Conducting Competition in both 2016 and 2017, and as a 2017 winner, conducted the orchestra in concert during their summer tour to Spain. Reed also studied with Prof. Robert Cameron at Duquesne University through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's conducting apprenticeship program in 2016.

Beyond the baton, Reed has worked as a drum major clinician for multiple high school marching programs and served as a counselor at the Music for All Summer Symposium Drum Major Institute in 2019 and 2020 (Virtual).
